Herry Hess
(1906-1969)
Herry Hess, a professor of geology, hypothesis that the sea-floor was spreading. Hess theory helped explained how the continents drift because pieces of the sea-floor moves and it takes the continents with it.
Sea-floor spreading: occurs along mid-ocean-ridge, when the tectonic plates slowly moves away from each
other, hot magma from the Earths mantle comes up to the surface. As magma cools by the seawater the rock forms a new part of the crust.
